The "Shot Banana on Wall" is a parody of Any Warhol's Shot Marilyn's. Dorothy Podber, a fellow artist, saw the recently completed paintings stacked against one another at the studio and asked Warhol if she could shoot them. Believing that she intended to photograph the paintings, Warhol agreed. She proceeded to retrieve a small revolver from her purse, and fired a shot into the stack of four paintings, which became known as The Shot Marilyns. After she had shot the paintings and left, Andy Warhol barred her from The Factory for life, and he went forward and sopld the paintings, retitiling them "The Shot Marilyns"
If the audience looks closely enough with enough imagination, they can descern that the shjot banana, with its' two holes, now resembles a smilie face.
